Solent Hotel & Spa, Rookery Ave, Whiteley, Fareham PO15 7AJ, United Kingdom

Download Event to Calendar

Laryngopharygeal cancers strike patients at the centre of their identity and well-being: The speech-breathing-swallowing apparatus. Even worse, the majority of these cancers are detected late, when functional loss is already present or difficult to avoid. In recent decades, treatment of patients with laryngopharyngeal cancers has progressed in the optimisation of the balance between oncological control and functional outcome. The present course brings an international and multidisciplinary collection of world experts to the UK, to share their views on the most pertinent topics that affect this balance: Patient perspectives, prevention and early detection, preoperative patient optimisation, practical tips for conventional and future surgical approaches and reconstruction, the standard of care and future of laryngeal preservation treatment, total laryngectomy, functional rehabilitation after treatment and troubleshooting.
