Surgical margins in Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery of the Head and Neck
13th June 2023, 19:00 to 20:00 BST

Overview:
Professor Vinidh Paleri set the scene a few months ago by showcasing 'Robotic Surgery in the Head and Neck' as part of the RCSEd webinar series demonstrating the use of different robotic platforms in various surgical specialties.

Some important and sometimes controversial topics with regards to the management of Head and Neck cancer by Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery will be discussed in the TORS webinar series over the next few months.

We will kick off with the often debated topic of 'what constitutes an adequate surgical margin'. We will hear the perspective of a UK TORS surgeon and a Pathology Consultant.

Aim:
To analyse the impact of the surgical margin on patient outcome in TORS.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Define the surgical margin in TORS
- Understand how the pathologist handles the TORS specimen
- Provide an evidence based review of the impact of the surgical margin on the outcome in TORS.
